Joyce Kromminga

My name is Joyce Kromminga.
I am the homeroom teacher for fifth grade.
I attended Golden Valley Lutheran College in Minneapolis and graduated with my
AA degree. I transferred to Concordia University, St. Paul, where I received my BS in
Elementary Education with a minor in physical education and a concentration in
social studies. I continued my education beyond my BS at Concordia University in
Irvine, California. I have completed my 40th year of teaching. I taught 17 years at
Zion Lutheran School in Anaheim, California. I have been blessed to teach the rest of
my years here at Faribault Lutheran School.
My approach to educational ministry puts children as number one. Their salvation
as a child of God is top priority. My goal is to get the best out of each individual
student by encouraging them and raising expectations as needed.
Most of my teaching experience has been in grades five through eight. I really enjoy
teaching middle school students. I love getting to know them. It is great to get my
students involved in experiences outside the classroom. We learn so much more
about each other and they learn about themselves. Some of my favorite moments
have happened during student leadership opportunities, while we were doing
service projects and when my class and I were away on retreats.
My favorite Bible passage is Jeremiah 29:11, “I know the plans I have for you…”
From early on, I always wanted to be a teacher. I planned on teaching in the public
school system, but God had other plans for me. God has called me into the teaching
ministry at Faribault Lutheran School.
