Dear Parents and FLS Community,
We are thrilled to announce that Mr. Riley Krieger will be joining us full-time as our music teacher starting next school year. This decision reflects our commitment to providing consistent daily music instruction for our students, along with additional opportunities in choir and band. Our goal is to establish a middle school elective for band lessons and establish our own FLS band moving forward.
Research has consistently shown that music education offers numerous benefits. Students engaged in music often experience enhanced cognitive abilities, improved academic performance, and increased creativity and confidence. For instance, studies have shown that students who participate in music education tend to have higher academic achievement across various subjects, particularly in mathematics and language arts. Music education enhances memory, attention, and spatial-temporal skills, which contribute to better problem-solving and reasoning capabilities.
Moreover, music education contributes to better mental health and emotional stability, fostering a well-rounded development in students.
We also recognize the challenges many of our churches face in finding musicians such as piano players, organists, soloists, and choir members. Through our expanded music offerings, we aim to nurture and develop the musical talents of our students, preparing them to serve and enrich our community in alignment with our mission to serve others for Christ and His church.
By investing in our music program, we are dedicated to ensuring our students achieve the best possible outcomes. While we understand this will lead to adjustments in scheduling, we are excited to embrace a renewed emphasis on musical growth and development at FLS.
We are excited about the opportunities this expansion brings and look forward to the positive impact it will have on our students and community.
Regards,
The FLS School Board
