What is the class size at FLS?
Class sizes at FLS remain relatively small. Class sizes average between 16 and 25 students per class.
How is religion taught?
All grades have religion instruction as part of the curriculum. Starting in kindergarten, our teachers work with parents to help students memorize and understand the meaning of a new bible verse each week. All grades also attend chapel once a week on Wednesdays. Student participate in religion class where they learn about God’s word, the Catechism and strengthen their faith in Jesus Christ. We also incorporate hymns and Christian music into our fine arts programming. All of our coursework incorporates our LCMS faith into our teachings.
What is tuition?
Tuition is set by the FLS Board of Directors each year. Thanks to the ministry of our two partner congregations, Trinity and Peace, we are able to keep tuition costs low. Current tuition costs reflect less than half of the true cost of educating a student. There is also a registration fee and technology fee per student. Is tuition assistance available?
Yes, tuition assistance is available. Thanks to individual and business donations as well as the generous support of our churches, FLS offers tuition assistance for families through a program called TADS. TADS is an independent system that factors in a variety of things towards a family’s need for assistance.
What activities can my child participate in?
FLS has a variety of extracurricular activities for students including: sports (volleyball, basketball, cheerleading) as well as cooperative sports with Faribault Public Schools. There are also sports available through Faribault Parks and Recreation. Students can also participate in music including choir, handbells, tone chimes and band. Band is offered cooperatively through Bethlehem Academy and begins in 5th grade.
Students also have the opportunity to participate in Lego Club, held in the fall and spring, and in Study Club, held weekly after school.
Do I need to be Lutheran to attend FLS?
FLS is open to every child and family regardless of religion. All students participate in learning about the Christian faith. We encourage our families to visit our partner churches and find out if they may be a right fit for their family.
What are your enrollment policies?
Faribault Lutheran School admits students of any race, color, national or ethnic origin to all
rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the
school. The school does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in

Can I schedule a tour of the school?
Yes! We welcome any tour requests for interested families. Tours can be arranged by contacting the school at 507.334.7982.
What time does school start?
The school day begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m. School doors open at 7:45 a.m. Students should be picked up by 3:10 p.m.
Is after school care available?
FLS offers both before and after school care as part of our FLS Plus program. There is a separate form and schedule to be completed for enrolling families. Fees are billed monthly for the program.
Before and after school care for students attending FLS is provided through FLS PLUS. FLS PLUS utilizes a daily schedule that includes daily homework work time with assistance as needed, snack for after school, and supervised play time.
Families are required to enroll a minimum of 3 days a week for either before or after school care.

Is there a student dress code?
There is a student dress code, outlined in the parent/student handbook. Students are expected to follow the dress code. However, uniforms are not required as part of attending FLS.
How do I sign my child up for hot lunches?
Due to the new ruling in the state of Minnesota, school lunches are now provided at no cost to all students. Students are required to have a lunch account with the school to pay for extra meals or milks above and beyond the lunch that is provided at no cost to the student.
What is the snack cart?
Families can choose to pay $45 per semester (twice a year) to have the option of their child choosing a provided snack from the snack cart at school, rather than bringing a snack from home for snack time. Families are also welcome to bring in their own snack daily for snack time.
What information does my child need for kindergarten?
Children entering kindergarten need to have an early childhood screening completed and sent to the school prior to starting. Children entering kindergarten also need a copy of their immunization records sent to the school prior to starting.
