Welcome to 4th Grade!

 

 

When you enter our classroom, you will see many frogs.  We use F.R.O.G to remind us taht fourth graders are Fully Relying On God.  Throughout the year, we trust God to help and guidance in our daily encounters. This year we will strive to put our faith into action through service to others.

During fourth grade, we gain confidence in our ablity to work independently. Following directions is emphasized,  practiced, and hopefully mastered.

Some important new concepts learned are:

  • spelling non-phonetic words
  • continued practice with nouns, verbs, pronouns, adjectives, and adverbs
  • U.S. States and capitals
  • long multiplication and long division

Some special learning experiences include:

  • religious mini-plays
  • cooperative learning
  • experiential learning
  • Mn Science Museum and MN Zoo trip
  • science project about animals
  • social studies project about a selected state
  • trips to River Bend Nature Center
  • marble tournament
  • smelly sneaker contest
  • “Fallerim” (a non-traditon learning experience involving arts and crafts)
  • participation in Chapel presentations
  • Accelerated Reader
  • Rocket Math fact memorization
  • keyboarding mastery using Type to Learn
