In Third Grade the students will:

  • Receive Faith Alive NIV Bibles and learn how to use them.  Their faith grows as they see how God interacts with major Bible characters in the Old and New Testaments through Bible stories.
  • Learn how to write the upper and lower case letters in cursive.  After much practice assignments will be written in cursive the last months of the school year.
  • Develop their skills in a host of mathematical areas; add and subtract four digit numerals, multiple and divide three digit by one digit numerals, master telling time, count money, write 5 digit numerals, understand geometric figures plus.
  • Do much writing to develop their skills in writing sentences, paragraphs, and longer works. The basic make-up of language; capital letters, end marks, nouns, verbs, adjectives, pronouns, and adverbs will be addressed.
  • Learning about good drugs/bad drugs and will role play how to say “No” when offered a street drug will be included within the Health curriculum.
  • Enjoy reading stories about six themes which use various genres.  Their reading skills of comparing, contrasting, finding details and the main idea, summarizing, fact and opinion, cause and effect, plus many other reading skills will improve.
  • Learn about communities, where they are located, duties citizens have, the basic government offices, the history of. The Wahpetuta band of the Sioux Indians who lived in and around the Faribault area will be studied in detailed.

Parents will be able to:

  • See that their child is taught in a caring Christian environment where the teacher seen to his/her needs.
  • See their third grader develop more into a caring Christian as the year passes.
  • See their son/daughter take more or full responsibility for their homework as the year goes on.
